Racecourse

In the middle of the city of Merano is the huge area of the racecourse, which is the scene of countless international competitions with hurdle races, hunt races, cross country as well as flat races. The unique structure was built in 1935 and, in addition to the grandstand, has restaurants and a playground for your children. Annually, the racing events take place between May and October.

Tappeiner trail

A wonderful promenade connects Merano with Algund/Lagundo. Algund, via the Küchelberg, is only 2.5 km from the centre of Merano – or you can choose to go in the opposite direction and start in Algund.

Knottenkino “outdoor cinema” in Hafling/Vöran

Who ever said that a film must be made by human hand? That’s what the artist Franz Messner thought in the year 2000 when he had the idea of making 30 cinema chairs out of steel and chestnut-wood and placing them on the mountains over Merano, in front of the panoramic view of Rotstein-Kogel, halfway between Hafling/Avelengo and Vöran/Verano, thus creating a unique „cinema“.

Raiffeiner Orchid World

Marvel at the beautiful orchid blossoms and experience these unique plants with all your senses. There are various play areas for children as well as learning stations that entertainingly provide knowledge about how orchids grow and reproduce.
